Devotional Message:
"Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'" - 1 Peter 5:5 (NKJV)
In this verse, Peter invites believers to adopt humility as a cornerstone of Christian life. He initiates with a few words that require the younger people to submit to their elders, acknowledging the wealth of wisdom and foresight that age-positioned experience holds. That is not all; everyone is called to humility.
"Clothed with humility" means essentially that humility has to become part of our character, just as clothing is part of our appearance. Not optional, but a command for anyone truly wanting to live the life of their Christ. Humility helps promote harmony in relations. It enables us not only to see others better than ourselves but also to serve each other with pure love.
Peter warns us that pride puts us in opposition to God. Pride says "I can do it", humility proclaims, "I am dependent upon God and His grace". A powerful promise accompanies humility: God gives grace to the humble. This grace enables us to overcome trials, deepen our faith, and walk in His will.

Reflection
Are you wrapped up in humility today? Do you gladly submit to authority while treating others with equal respect and love? Ask God to show you any areas of pride that may be blocking your relationship with Him and others.Prayer
Indeed, O God in heaven, we appreciate that Your Word is a gift that shall always lead us in truth and in righteousness. Teach me to be humble, with an attitude of submission to those whom You have placed in authority over me while serving others with a heart that reflects Christ. Forgive me, too, for allowing pride to stifle my life. Keep me always in Thy grace, ready to depend on You for all things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
