Bible Verse:
"But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Devotional Message:
Life sometimes comes in stages that try one's endurance, patience, and faith. It is so easy to feel defeated at such times, or to think one wouldn't be able to make it through. Isaiah 40:31 says the opposite, reminding us that in waiting on the Lord, He renews our strength.
It is not the faith in whether God can act but confidence in His timing and in the accomplishment of His promise. The eagles can soar high above the storm. Our faith whisks us above the trials of life, not by our might, but by God's sustaining grace.
Even as wearied and burdened, He invites us to lean on Him. God says that not only will those waiting on Him survive but they will soar. This verse is a call to refocus our hearts anew to God, the source of our strength, and to remember that He is faithful to equip us for the journey ahead.
Reflection Questions:
What part of your life has God given you endurance to endure?
How will you fully trust God in the wait as His promises unfold?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of renewed strength to the people who put their confidence in You. Teach us to wait on You patiently, in confidence, knowing You will never fail. As we go through life feeling weak, remind us of Your power, which sustains us. Help us to mount up with wings as the eagle and move with bold confidence along Your path for our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
