Topic: Walking Forward Without Fear
Scripture: "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." — Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)
There are mornings when we wake up and the weight of life feels almost unbearable. The bills are stacking up on the kitchen counter. The doctor's report did not bring the news we hoped for. The relationship we poured our heart into has crumbled like sand between our fingers. And in those quiet moments before the sun fully rises, fear whispers its cruel accusations into our weary souls.
I remember a season in my own life when fear had wrapped itself around my chest so tightly that I could barely breathe. Every step forward felt like walking through thick mud. Every decision seemed impossible. I would lie awake at night, my mind racing with questions that had no answers. What if I fail? What if everyone abandons me? What if God has forgotten about me?
It was during that dark valley that the Lord brought this verse from Deuteronomy into my spirit. Moses was speaking to the children of Israel as they stood on the edge of the Promised Land. They were about to face giants, fortified cities, and enemies that seemed far more powerful than a wandering nation of former slaves. Fear must have gripped their hearts. Doubt must have clouded their vision.
But Moses, that faithful servant of God, spoke words of eternal truth that still echo across the centuries and land gently upon our troubled hearts today. Be strong. Have courage. Do not fear. Do not be afraid.
Why? Because the Lord your God goes with you.
Friend, let that truth sink deep into your bones this morning. The same God who parted the Red Sea walks beside you. The same God who provided manna in the wilderness is providing for you right now. The same God who brought water from a rock is able to bring refreshment to your dry and thirsty soul.
He will not fail you. Read that again slowly. He will not fail you. In a world where people break promises, where plans fall apart, and where even our own bodies betray us, God remains faithful. His track record is perfect. He has never once abandoned one of His children, and He is not about to start with you.
He will not forsake you. This means He will never walk away, never throw up. His hands in frustration, never decide that you are too much trouble to love. Even when you feel utterly alone, even when the silence is deafening and the darkness feels overwhelming, He is right there. Closer than your next breath. Nearer than your own heartbeat.
The lesson for us today is simple but profound. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is choosing to move forward despite the fear because we know who walks with us. It is trusting that even when we cannot see the path ahead, God sees it clearly. It is believing that our story is not over and that the Author of our faith is writing a beautiful ending.
Perhaps you are facing something today that terrifies you. A conversation you have been avoiding. A decision that could change everything. A battle that feels impossible to win. I want you to know that you do not have to face it alone. God Himself has promised to go with you. And when God makes a promise, heaven and earth will pass away before that promise fails.
So take a deep breath. Square your shoulders. Lift your eyes from the giants before you and fix them on the God above you. He is bigger than your problems. He is stronger than your fears. And His love for you is deeper than the ocean and higher than the heavens.
Walk forward today in strength and courage. Not because you have all the answers, but because you serve the One who does.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise to never leave me or forsake me. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear to steal my peace and paralyse my faith. Help me to walk in courage today, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. Strengthen my heart and remind me of Your faithfulness. I choose to trust You, Lord. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
