January 1st, 2026: Devotional
A New Beginning in God’s Hands
Bible Verse (KJV):
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24
Devotional Message
January 1st serves as a divine reminder that God is still in charge, still faithful, and still writing your story. It is more than just the beginning of a new year. You may be starting 2026 with prayers, hope, uncertainty, or even unresolved wounds from the previous year. However, this day serves as evidence that God has given you another chance to live a purposeful life.A new year offers new grace to face tomorrow, but it does not erase the hardships of the past. God does not use your past transgressions as a gauge for your future. Rather, He asks you to put your trust in Him for the future. The same God who helped you overcome every obstacle in the past has already led you into 2026.
Today is not about perfection; it is about direction. When you place your plans, goals, and desires into God’s hands, He aligns your steps with His will. Even when the path seems unclear, God’s guidance is certain. Each day you wake up in this new year is a gift—an invitation to live intentionally, love deeply, and walk faithfully.
Let this be the year you grow stronger in faith, wiser in choices, and more rooted in God’s promises. Choose gratitude over fear, trust over anxiety, and obedience over doubt. God’s mercy is new this morning, and His grace is sufficient for every day ahead.
Contemplation
- In this new year, what are you putting your faith in God for?
- Do you need to give Him complete control over any aspects of your life right now?
- In 2026, how can you purposefully walk with God?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray.I am grateful for the gift of a new year and a new start. I entrust my life, plans, and future to You as I enter 2026. Encourage me to trust You more, completely obey You, and walk in Your purpose every day. Give me courage, direct my choices, and fill my heart with thankfulness and serenity. I hope that this year will bring us closer than we have ever been. Amen, in the name of Jesus.
