Topic: When You Don’t Know What to Do, Ask God
Bible Verse (KJV):
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”— James 1:5
Devotional message
There are moments in life when the road ahead feels confusing and uncertain. You want to make the right decision, but your mind is crowded with fear, doubt, and unanswered questions. You may pray, yet still feel unsure. In those moments, God speaks gently to our hearts through James 1:5, reminding us that we are never alone in our confusion.
This verse is an open invitation from a loving Father. God knows that we will face seasons when our own understanding is not enough. He does not criticize us for not knowing. He does not shame us for asking. Instead, He invites us to come boldly and ask for wisdom—His wisdom—freely and without fear.
God’s wisdom is more than intelligence. It is divine insight that brings peace, direction, and clarity. When we ask God for wisdom, He aligns our hearts with His will and helps us see beyond our emotions. He teaches us how to respond, not just react. He shows us the path that leads to life, even when the situation feels overwhelming.
James reminds us that God gives “liberally.” This means God is generous. He does not give in small portions or with conditions. When you sincerely ask Him, He gives wisdom that strengthens your faith and guides your steps. Your situation may not change immediately, but your perspective will—and that changes everything.
Today’s devotion encourages you to stop struggling alone. Bring your questions to God. Bring your decisions, your fears, and your plans. Trust that the same God who created the heavens is willing to guide your next step.
Lessons to Learn from James 1:5
1. It is okay to admit you need help
Needing wisdom is not weakness; it is humility. God honors a heart that recognizes its need for Him.
2 God is approachable and generous
You do not need perfect words or deep knowledge—just a sincere heart willing to ask.
3. Wisdom comes from God, not the world
Human advice may fail, but God’s wisdom is pure, lasting, and trustworthy.
4. Asking God builds faith and peace
When you depend on God for direction, anxiety gives way to confidence in His care.
